About Us
Rekindling the Village is a Non-Profit Society offered through the Gift Economy to regenerate the threads of cooperative and reciprocal relationships of all sacred life on the land. Sharing what we have and receiving what we need to create a New and Ancient Story.
At the heart of our organization are four core values that guide everything we do: Honour, Learn, Heal & Play. These principles are not just ideas — they are living practices that shape how we show up for one another, how we build safe and inclusive spaces, and how we move toward collective well-being.
-
Honour
We honour the land we work on, the ancestors who came before us, and the diverse voices that shape our present. To honour is to act with respect and accountability — in our relationships, in how we make decisions, and in how we uplift stories that need to be heard. We acknowledge that true honour means listening, learning, and making space for all identities, experiences, and traditions.
-
Learn
We are a learning community — open to growth, reflection, and transformation on the land. We value knowledge that comes from lived experience, cultural teachings, and shared dialogue, just as much as formal education. Learning also means unlearning harmful patterns and systems that do not serve us. As an organization, we commit to listening with humility, sharing knowledge across generations, and fostering environments where everyone — from youth to Elders — can grow.
-
Heal
We recognize that many in our community carry wounds — personal, historical, and intergenerational. Healing is a powerful act of reclaiming wholeness. As a community we commit to creating environments that support healing through connection, gift giving and receiving, vulnerability, grief tending and ritual. Healing is not just about individual recovery — it's about restoring balance within our communities and across generations.
-
Play
Play is more than just recreation — it is a form of resistance, renewal, and relationship-building. We believe that joy, creativity, and imagination are essential to wellness. In our programs and spaces, we encourage play as a way to connect across generations, express ourselves freely, and create moments of laughter, exploration, and possibility. Play helps us envision new futures — together.
These four values are woven into every initiative we lead, every partnership we build, and every circle we hold. Honour, Learn, Heal & Play reflect our vision for a stronger, more compassionate community — one where everyone has space to be seen, heard, and supported.
